Veles

Much as The Roman Formation called Velites (which were Skirmish or ''Melee' Troops) – so to was the Gladiator known as The Veles. The ''fought'' much as the Military Component – with only Shield and Spear. They would be used during full scale ''battles'' (often commemorative) staged in The Arena. They were very low on the Gladiator ''Scale''.
