Dating to 1,500 BC and Ancient Egypt – The ‘’Tyet’’ was a type of (at first) cloth and later stone carved image, used to invoke the ‘’Protection’’ of The Goddess Isis. Originally, cloth Tyets were thought to be a form of feminine hygiene device, seen to provide ‘’less pain’’ during menstruation. Later, Tyets were used (buried with) in The Funerary Custom. The small ‘’stone’’ Icons were buried with various Royalty (in wrappings), to provide protection of a Mummy from Crime (Grave Robbers). To remove a Tyet was seen as the ‘’ultimate offense’’, from which Isis would vigorously punish the Transgressor.
