One of the most common variations in Flag creation, The Triband variety is the placement of solid colored Stripes or Bars, as the predominant Field of a Flag. Striping is limited to only 3 large Bars, with colors depending on the Cultural or Historical reference which is needed to be conveyed. Such Bars can be placed either vertically or horizontally. Some Nations use other imagery normally embroidered on the Center Bar. Some of the first examples of Triband Flags were seen in the mid-Middle Ages (15th & 16th Centuries).
