The Assessors of Maat

The Assessors of Maat were Egyptian Associate Deities of The Goddess Maat. She (as we have seen) represented Truth, Justice and devised the ''Weighing of Souls'' in The Afterlife. The Assessors were a type of ''Judge'', of which there were 42. Each Assessor controlled a particular Sin. Each subsequently gave judgment to a Soul, if or if not they violated a particular virtue in Life. The Assessors were featured prominently in The ''Book of The Dead'', the primary source of Funerary Ritual in Egypt's New Kingdom Period (1550 BC to 50 BC).
