A very old Heraldic image going back many Centuries, The Sun was used quite frequently in The Middle Ages. Popular in France, Spain and Italy – it was a first stylized with a Human Face and features. Traditionally, The Sun's Rays (or extensions) were shown as wavy and later straight or cascading. Imparting “Glory”, The Sun was seen more on Royal Coats of Arms and very high placed Nobles that on a “regular” Crest or Shield. Coloring was standardized as well, with bright Yellow or Gold being the norm.
