A popular Medieval “Banner”, The Schwenkel developed in Germany. It was a squared cloth with a 2-foot extension. It was placed on War Lances for identification of “loyalties”. Later, The Schwenkel was placed on an inverted “L” Pole and place in front of a Knights Tent to identify his “Quarters”.
