Seen predominately in the 15th Century, Plackart armor was similar to the Breastplate. It initially covered the lower half of the front torso. A plate reinforcement composed the bottom part. Although having a metal finish, some versions were covered in velvet as well. Plackart armor was popular in Italy and Spain, were often highly stylized. German versions are fluted as a decorative form (fluting also provided additional protection).
