Another misconception with Viking Warrior ethos, was that they were somewhat heavily armored fighters. In theory, they weren't. Again most of what the Vikings used was adaptive and adoptive. A more common form of Viking Armor was heavy plated leather worn with Chain Mail. This provided basic protection as well as range of motion. Components were mixed and matched, depending on the Warrior and his standing. Often, heavy animal hides and leather were combined as well. Shields were also simple in construction. Wooden (Plate) and iron framed, they also adapted The Kite Shield as well.
