Originally a form of German measurement, The Mark became the standard coinage of Germany in The Middle Ages. Containing 12 ounces of pure Silver, they had a high level of engraving. In England, The Mark was equal to 13 Shillings (by Medieval standards). The Mark was widely accepted in “international” usage.
