The presence of Spirits (Ghosts), was a concept well known by the Ancient Egyptians. The soul of a human - or "Ba" was expected to travel to The Afterlife for formal judgment by various God's and their Associates. Normally, if a Ba was judged bad, it was destroyed (condemned. Some unlucky souls did travel back to the World of the Living - set to torment all. Akin to the Poltergeist Theory of wrathful spooks, it was not normally thought this punishment was given to Royalty. The Common people were most likely to be so damned. The Khu was a lesser God who was tasked with maintaining "order" over these Spirits. Depicted as a half-human, half- bird, it was common to make offerings to The Khu to keep evil Spirits away. The Khu was common throughout Egypt's three "Kingdom" Periods.
