The Hussards de Mort, were a French Military Formation, raised in 1792 – to serve in The French Revolutionary Wars. Originally only a single Company of 200 Officer and Men, The Hussards were classed as Light Cavalry. Mostly composed of the Sons of French Noblemen, The Company wore distinctive Grey and Black Uniforms which featured The ''Death's Head'' or ''Skull and Crossbones'' motif. They fought in several major engagements with great distinction. Their motto ''To The Death'' was well earned, as The Company often refused to retreat. Disbanded in 1793, The Hussard de Mort would not be re-formed by Napoleon Bonaparte.
