German AEG D.1 Fighter Plane

Seen as a prototype Fighter to be a counter to The British Sopwith late in World War I, only (3) German AEG D.1 Fighters were built. (2) of them crashed (one which involved the death of a German Aerial Ace). As such, no others were ordered and The Fighter never saw combat. Flown by (1), The AEG was 20-feet long with a Bi-wing span of 30-feet. Power was provided by a single Daimler 6-Cylinder Engine which produced 160-HP. Airspeed when tested was 130-mph. Operational ceiling was 16,000-feet. Armament was to be (2) 7.92mm Machine Guns.
