An early Political Flag used in Texas, it was designed by Captain Phillip Dimmit. Actually an ardent and vocal Political force for reconciliation with Mexico, he made several attempts with Steven Austin to avoid Secession and War. When Mexico refused concessions, Dimmit became just as vocal in his feelings against Mexico. His "Bloody Arm" Flag was first flown in 1835. Speculated to have been based on The Polish Naval Ensign of the 17th Century, his Flag was an entire White Field. Centered, was a Red Arm with raised Sword. "Blood" drops were seen coming from the blade. This "Bloody Arm" Flag was seen in use through the The Texas Revolution in various forms.
