This was a spear-like weapon that was preferred by 8th Century Frankish warriors. The shaft of the spear was around 3 to 4 feet long. Some rare documented examples were an impressive 9 feet). The Angon's uniqueness was in it's spearhead. Made of metal, it could reach 15 inches long. The head (often notched or barbed), would become difficult to remove when it hit it's target. A true descendant of the Roman Pulim Spear, it was also used as a thrusting/stabbing weapon.
