Zipacna

A ‘’Demon’’ Deity in ancient Mayan Mythology – ‘’Zipacna’’ was said to have been ‘’Creator of Mountains’’. Important, in that Mountains were revered in Mesoamerican Culture as being ‘’Home to The Gods’’. In fact, any Temples or Shrines built (which were seen as emulating a Mountain), were dedicated to Zipacna. He was also (later) associated with Death and His Cult received many Human sacrifices.
