Zagreus

From Cretan/Greek Mythology, Zagreus was a Demi-God later associated with the God Dionysus. Born to Demeter and Persephone, Zagreus became the Stepson of Zeus. He lived the child so much, that he planned to make him his Heir. This so infuriated The Titans (Zeus' true rivals), that they baited the boy with toys and trapped him. Falling on him in a frenzy, The Titans tore Zagreus to pieces and devoured him (save his heart). Athena was able to rescue his heart, and gave it to Zeus. So enraged, Zeus destroyed The Titans by blasting them to ashes. From this, it is said Mankind came into being. Zeus took Zagreus' heart and placed it into a new creation, called Semele. He was known later as Dionysus.
