According to Taoist (Chinese) Beliefs, ‘’Xian’’ were Immortal Beings who – may or may NOT have been Human. In some cases, Xian WERE Humans (mostly Royalty or Nobility) – who by Their deeds, were ‘’made’’ Immortal. Of the different classifications of Xian, and depending on Their importance ‘’in Life or Legend’’, They were assigned various attributes. Living Humans often tried to impress The Xian, which was seen as creating some form of favor which would be ‘’honored in death’’. Perhaps a ‘’fine Home’’ or ‘’riches’’ in The Afterlife – when THAT time came. Sometimes, small Household Shrines were build, to honor a specific Xian (and thus entice The Xian to ‘’visit’’).
