An Ancient Mayan (Mesoamerican) word and phrase – ‘’Wayob’’ was used for several meanings. Th first, dealt with ‘’special persons’’ who could ‘’transform into animals’’ – or a Shapeshifter. The second definition was associated with various ‘’summoned Spirits’’, who took the form of an animal. Interchangeable in Mayan Culture, it depended on the overall context. Wayob ‘’activities’’ were well documented in Mayan Art and Oral Tradition.
