These were two simple Medieval matching swords which came to represent The Royalty of Poland. As the Legend of "The Two Swords" goes, The Grand Master of The Order of Teutonic Knights, just prior to The Battle of Grunwald - presented these two blades to King Wladyslaw II (as an invitation to join the battle). Considered war trophies, they were kept as Royal treasures or "Honors" of Poland. They symbolized The King's reign over Poland and The Grand Duchy of Lithuania. They were also used as coronation swords for The Kings and Queens of The Kingdom from the 16th to the 18th Centuries. Sometime in 1853, the Two Swords of Grunwald mysteriously disappeared - never to be seen again! The Two Swords were incorporated as part of the City Crest of The Administrative Commune of Grunwald (today).
