Urban Legends (as We have seen), while thought of being ''modern'' - date back Centuries. Rooted in Oral Folk Story Traditions, many are easily explained as ''modern hype'' and ''fantasy'' specially created to arouse interest. Perhaps The Serbian ''Dancing Lady'' is well within this realm as well. Found ''saturating'' The Internet (You-Tube etc.) are short videos od what appears to be a ''dark Lady'' dancing in the middle of a street or alley (always facing away from the viewer). The ''Lady'' begins to dance in such a way as to border on the brink of ''creepy''. Should the viewer interfere with Her ''dance'' - The Lady tuns and chargs towards the viewer (as if to catch them and.........)
Some variations of this theme is that The Lady is holding a knife, although most of this part of the Legend is most often unsubstantiated. In truth, The Lady's appearance is ALWAYS different. She is linked to several Serbian ''Legends'' (many of which cannot be found.....trust me). The Lady also seems to have ''migrated'' to India as well as The United States.
The most comparable link to The Dancing Lady was the late 1990s and early 2000s ''Crazy'' or ''Demonic'' Clown Sightings in The United States (we have alrady covered this rather weird phenomenon). The supporting videos and Urban Legends took off on The Internet like a wildfire. So too, does The Serbian Dancing Lady.......it would seem!
