As we have seen in the past, Bridges are like magnets for Paranormal activities. The Oak Grove Bridge, near Oak Grove, Kentucky is no different. The story is somewhat "modern" for a Ghost Tale. Traced back to the mid-1960s, it involves young soldier and his wife. Stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky - while deployed Overseas, the soldiers wife was unfaithful. Being told of her transgressions, he plotted his revenge upon his return. Taking his wife on a night drive, far from Base - the car they were traveling in stopped on The Oak Grove Bridge. The two got out to see what the problem under "the Hood". This was a ruse however. The soldier strangled his wife, dead. Dumping her body over the Bridge into the river below, he thought the currents would remove her far down (and out of sight). Returning home, he told friends she had left him ( a common fate for Military families).
Several weeks later, Oak Grove Police discovered the woman's now badly decomposed body UNDER the Bridge. Apparently, it had caught itself up on rocks and debris underneath and did not travel downriver or sink. It took little time to identify her and eventually arrest and try her husband for her murder. He was sentenced to life imprisonment. Now our story gets creepy. From that day to this, an Apparition appears on the Bridge occasionally. A White, misty figure- upon close examination, reveals a decomposing female, moaning her injustice of spending Eternity trapped on the Bridge. It is said that if one is foolish enough to drive one's car over the Bridge at night, it WILL stall and not start again until morning. The "Phantom" has been photographed MANY times over the years. The provided photo is one of the more "famous".
