The Lost Continent of Mu

 Mu......A possible ''Pacific Ocean'' Version of the fabled Lost Continent of Atlantis, was a theory first brought forth in the mid-19th Century. Some Historians state that ''Mu'' is also another name for Lemuria (another believed ''Lost Civilization''). But with regards of whatever it ''was'' called – Mu was said to have existed some 800,000 years ago. The Continent was said to have occupied much of the upper (Northern Pacific Ocean) and featured a hyper advanced Ancient Civilization. So advanced in fact, that one (coming from our ''Modern Time'') – going back in time, would easily recognize ''today's Civilization'' with ease. The ideology of Mu being a possible ''Base'' for Extraterrestrial ''Colonist's'' to Earth nearly 1 Million Years ago, naturally drew great criticism from the conventional Scientific World. The skeptics cite that there is no evidence of an additional land mass having ever been present in The Pacific. But then, over the eons, much of the underwater geography could have been altered. In time most evidence ''made by human? Hands, would have been erased. But some may have survived.

Off the Coast of Japan's Yonaguni Island, barely several hundred feet below surface – stands an underwater anomaly made of stone, that is debated as being ''naturally made'' as opposed to being ''hand hewn''. The large blocks of cut stone are hundreds of tons in weight and measure (in some cases) nearly 1,000 feet long. The perfection of the cuts are as such that even with today's technology, such shaping would be difficult – let along possible for their suspected age of 5,000 years old. Supporters cite that the 5,000 year age is wrong, and that it is MUCH older. Perhaps a surviving legacy from The Residents of Mu?

The Turkish People have a evolutionary legend that states that their ancestors hailed from a mythic land to the East in the ''Great Ocean''. Their relatives were forced to leave it due to both geological malady and possible War. Some say that Mu was this land. In fact, several Pacific Island Nations tell a similar ancestor story of a ''marvelous land'' very advanced in technology and knowledge. Some still say that this land was populated by those who ''came from The Stars''. The Island of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) in The Pacific – is well known for it's massive stone Heads, which mysteriously dot the island. While a mystery debated in it's own right, many followers of The My Theory, advance the idea that Rapa Nui was in fact a ''Lost Colony'' of the ancient Mu. Perhaps it was. Mu would become a plot device for many Novels and Films thru the years. Everything from Alien Colonists, to long lost (yet still alive) Saurians have all populated the mythical land. Regardless of your belief, it is interesting to wonder if in fact (like Atlantis), an ancient and advanced land could have existed and if it did, be responsible for the advancement of civilization in that portion of The World.
