The Congress Plaza Hotel (Chicago, Illinois) is one of those locales which ''screams'' haunted. And it should. From it's Grand Opening in 1893 (to capitalize on The then World's Exposition Fair) – The Congress has been a ''Host'' to many infamous Persons and sad murder-suicides. America's ''First'' Serial Killer ''Dr,'' HH Holmes met many of His victims in The Congress' Lobby – to escort them to their deaths at His infamous ''Murder Castle'', just several blocks away. Gangster ''Al'' Capone (who was said to have lived at The Congress), actually never did – but He took many of His ''meetings'' there. The ghostly and fleeting images of ''Men in 1920s attire'' are often ''seen'' wandering the halls. In the early 1940s, a murder-suicide happened, when a young Polish Mother (having escaped Nazi persecution), was afraid She would be returned to German custody. She took Her two young children to the roof and threw them off, only to follow them. Cold Spot, feelings of dread and other ''shadows'' are commonly seen roaming the roof. The access doors are always locked and under alarm since. Another tales is that of the supposed Room #666. No one os quite sure of just ''what happened'' inside, but the rumor is that something ''so evil'' did, that the very room was sealed and the entrance closed and painted over. The faint signs of it's existence is still visible, between Rooms #665 and #667. Some other Rooms are just plain distressful. On the 2nd Floor, Guests can't sleep with reports of covers being pulled off of them all night, to faucets turning on and off without reason. Bad odors even the cursed ''sleep paralysis'' phenomenon is very common. Still, The Congress Plaza is always booked by travelers and of course the curious.
