Both liked and disliked – depending on your view, 1966s Universal-Pathe ''The Frozen Dead'' took several ideas and tried to merge them into a Horror-Science Fiction Film. Actually, the film merged too many ideas, which is why the movie is both liked and disliked. Obviously ''ripping off'' a main Plot idea from ''The Brain That Wouldn't Die'' (1962) – the story deals with a former Nazi German Doctor who is the last survivor of a World War II experiment of grisly proportions. Over 1,500 of Germany's ''Elite'' Soldiers were quick frozen in labs. In a form of suspended animation, they are ''hidden'' throughout Europe, until one day – when they will be resurrected to create a ''4th Reich''. However, our ''Good Doctor has a problem. Of the ''samples'' He has tried to bring back, the former Soldiers all have some form of brain damage and are useless. The Doctors experiments are linked to brain activity. Needing a brain, He turns a local girl (decapitated) into His ''new'' purpose. Although the Girl is dead, Her brain is kept functioning. Kept alive thru chemicals of the Doctors invention, it is learned that She can control dismembered body parts and to a small degree, the formerly brain damaged former Soldiers. Angered at Her predicament, The Girl's only goal is to die. In a spectacular ending – of which the secret is learned by outsiders, The ''Zombie Nazi's'' are turned on the lab – destroying it and the Doctor. The Girl's last request is to be ''buried'', alluding to Her wishing death to Her present form. Filmed in color, with period Horror Film music, as stated – One either likes or dislikes ''The Frozen Dead''.
