The Fog was a 1980 American Horror film by past Horror Master John Carpenter. The film tells the tale of the Citizens of a small American Island Community named Antonio Bay (off The California Coast). In 1880, a group of Lepers approached the island folk, begging to settle on the islands far side. In return for being left alone, they would pay a ransom in gold. The island's community was represented by a Catholic Priest (who agreed to the terms). The night the ship was supposed to make harbor, fires were to be made to warn the approaching ship of rocks and hazards. At the last moment, the islanders extinguished the fires causing the ship and all of it's passengers to sink and drown on the rocks. But before the ship's Captain died he cursed the islanders, warning them that he and his crew would return in 100 years for revenge!. Fast forward 100 years. The islanders are preparing to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the founding of their small community. At the stroke of midnight, a strange and mysterious fog envelopes the island. Suddenly, spectral figures of rotting sailors (the ship's crew) appear to kill the descendants of those who caused their death! The film ends in typical Carpenter style. It was a box office success for Carpenter who would go on with many other tales of terror and the supernatural.
