Both a Native-American Myth and later Urban Legend, The aptly named Dark Watchers are inductive to The Santa Lucia Mountains of The State of California (US). Although they appear in American Culture in the late 19th Century, according to The Chumash Native-American Tribe, their stories and Pictographs go back some 13,000 years. When European contact and subsequent Colonization if California took place (Spanish), The Dark Watchers became known as Los Vigilantes Ocuras .
These Beings appeared only in The Santa Lucia Mountains, closest to The Coast and The Pacific Ocean. Appearing either at Dusk or Twilight, they are seen as a Black, Humanoid forms. The Dark Watchers also noted for their Conical Hats and look great Staffs. One cannot discern any features. On fact if one tries to get too close, they simply vanish from sight. Local Residents experienced a spat of sightings in 1937 and again in 1968. They are not as active as they used to be however, or at least they have become somewhat accepted . The Dark Watchers are not Good or Evil . They seem content to do nothing more than watch.....for now.
