Found in Mallory's ''Le Morte'' Tale as well as several other non-canonical works - ''Elaine of Corbenic'' as a character said to be Daughter of The ''Fisher King'' and a Fairy Queen. As a quasi-human Being, she had mystical powers and abilities. Her primary function was to serve as Head ''Grail Maiden'' and tasked with the overall protection of The Cup of Christ – or 'Holy Grail''. She is often associated with falling in love with the Knight Sir Lancelot du Lac.
