Telchines

An Ancient Greek mythological Race, The Telchines were said to be a Merman-type group of Beings who possessed great magic and were much sought after for their skills. They were said to be the "original" inhabitants of The Isle of Rhodes. Chosen to raise and protect the young God-child Poseidon, it was The Telchines who forged his iconic Trident. The Telchines could control the weather and could heal any ailments. They were also great workers of iron and gold. So powerful did The Telchines become, that The King of The Gods (and brother of Poseidon), Zeus grew envious of them and caused a great flood to destroy them. Before the last Telchine died, he bestowed all knowledge of The Oceans onto Poseidon (which is why he became The God of The Seas). This ultimate power also fave him control over The Titans.
