The Haida Tribe of British Columbia (Canada), are an ancient North American Tribe, who may well have been among the first indigenous peoples who crossed the Great Bearing Strait Land bridge which connect North America with Europe 15,000 years ago. They had a complex religion and mythology. One of their principle Deities was ''Ta'xet''. He was seen (at one point) as a ''Demon'' (the Tribal definition being somewhat different from it's more traditional European one). Called ''Lord of Death'' by The Haida, Ta'xet was personified as a Deer. His Consort was ''Tia'' ''Goddess of Death''. Although given to punishing Man with disease (from time to time), He was venerated and honored by The Haida (and of course feared equally).
