Located on Rome's Capitoline Hill, is one ''Tarpeian Rock''. The stone outcropping is mentioned as early as the 8th Century BC, as a type of ''Execution'' Spot for Romans. In particular, Romans who were convicted of being Traitors. As we have seen, Roman Citizens were, by Law – forbidden to be executed for certain Crimes, using the common and infamous methods of The Era. Generally, decapitation, strangulation or ''death by The Sword'' (thrust) was ''the norm''. However, among The Patrician Class, Tarpiean Rock was used by The Ancient Roman Kings, forward to The Republic Era in a rather unusual way. The Rock, which has seen MUCH erosion over the Centuries, is currently around 80-feet in height. Those so accused of Treason and Sedition, were simply taken to The Rock and – thrown off (to their very apparent death on the smaller rocks below).

Normally, the body was allowed to remain in it;s place, until decomposition or wild animals ''did their work''. Later, surviving Families were allowed to remove remains, but would usually bury or cremate them in secret. Being sentenced to The Rock was seen as the ultimate disgrace within Roman Culture and would remain so for many more Centuries. The surviving Rock is another popular spot for Tourism, given it's ''dark and ageless'' past. Locally, many have a ''Ghost Story'' or too – regarding The Tarpiean Rock. A common spot for ''Manes'' (the Roman term for ''Spirit'', are ''seen often'', as are ''Energy Orbs''. Even the use of Electronic Voice Phenomenon recording devices can ''pick up''' a variety of (perhaps), Centuries of confusion and distress........
