St. Dunstan was Archbishop of Canterbury (England) in the 10th Century AD. He was known as a great adversary of The Devil. This was not lost on ''Old Scratch'' who went out of His way to torment Dunstan. Before entering into a life of Service, Dunstan was a Blacksmith Trade. Legend tells the tale of Satan (in disguise), came by Dunstan's forge one day and asked that He shod His Horse. Dunstan agreed by stated it would take a while as He was busy. The ''Man'' asked if He could rest, so Dunstan gave Him a spot in The Barn. While sleeping though, The Devil revealed His true form by accident. Dunstan saw His cloven feet and realized who He was. Dunstan then hammered a Horseshoe onto one of The Devil's hoofs. The Devil awoke angry. Trying to chase Dunstan (with only one foot), caused great pain. He begged Dunstan to remove it. Dunstan stated He would for a boon. Anyone who placed a Horseshoe on their home were to be left alone by The Devil and His Demons, henceforth. The Devil agreed. This was the ''genesis'' of The Horseshoe as a ''Good Luck'' Charm..........
