This Device, known as The ''Spanish Tickler'' was made of iron or steel. It consisted of long, sharpened iron spikes (which were curved). The device resemble a claw. The Administrator of the torture would scrap The Tickler over the victim's body – often ripping their skin away. Sometimes called “The Cats Paw”, the prongs were spaced in such a way as to not hit bone or go too deep into the tissue. Most designed incorporated 3 prongs (although 4 prong devices have been seen). Death would result from the device's use. Although not so much from one's torn flesh, but from infections – the Tickler was seldom cleaned. It's used was also used in conjunction with being hung/suspended from a roof or ceiling. The Tickler was popular around the 14th Century.
