Eastern Slavic Mythology, speak of Simargl as a Class of ''Griffin'' or Winged Beast – common in many of that regions Legends. ''He'' is often portrayed as part ''Lion and Canine'', and has great wings (to fly). Associated with The Constellation Ursa Minor (The Bear), His Wife was The Goddess of Night. Simargl was also seen as a ''Bringer of Death and Destruction'' in some myths. Many Russian Rulers from the 5th thru 14th Centuries AD saw Simargl as a personal Protector.
