''Shen''

The mysterious ''Shen'' is a part of Ancient Chinese Mythology – in particular Funerary. The Shen is a shapeshifter, which (in it's natural form) – is a Clam-type creature. It changes into a dark Dragon to try and catch Souls departing their bodies at death. The Shen also can become a large Bat. They are tricksters and quite malicious in intent. The Shen is also said to have an ingenious method for trapping Humans as well. They can ''become'' mirages. A lost person (especially at Sea), will ''see'' land'' or another Ship. In reality, it is some form of maritime hazard, meant to trap or sink the hapless victim. The Shen will then devour their Soul.
