Also known as Steller's Sea Ape , it was reportedly a strange creature found by Russian Explorer Gerog Steller in 1741. While off the Coast of Alaska, Steller saw the carcass of this creature floating in the water. It had not began to decompose and was in remarkable condition . Said to be 5 feet long and weighing several hundred pounds, the remains resembled part-Primate and part-Fish. The creature had fur on the upper portion of it's body and scales on the lower. It had a shark-like tail . The side fins (or flippers) were described as strange . Steller sketched the remains and threw it back into the Sea. No other recorded remains (or living creatures of the same species) have yet to be discovered.
