The Legend of The Rain Bird is common within many Native American Tribal Mythos. The Rain Bird is seen as The ''Bringer of Life'' and command the creation and flow of all water on The Earth. Water is seen as the ''foundation of life''. With the water brought by The Rain Bird, so too came animals (to hunt) and plants (to cultivate or eat). Some scholars ascribe The Condor as being the model for The Rain Bird, but this particular avian is disputed by many Tribes. Eagles, Owls and other Raptors are also viewed as the origin for ''The Rain Bird''.
