Ancient Greek Mythology stated that ‘’Poena’’ was the personification of ‘’Punishments’’ against Humans from The Gods. Seen as ‘’Divine Retribution’’, Poena was responsible for all manner of disease or discomfort, for which Man needed to ‘’atone for’’. A later link to such words as ‘’Pain’’ (as well as ‘’Penalty’’ and ‘’Punishment’’), One need not make offering to Her – but to The God or Goddess One had offended.
