 The Legend of The Plat Eye derived from The West Indies (with Slaves from Africa), and migrated with them into The Southern United States (Georgia and The Carolinas). The Plat-Eye (whose name origins are lost), is a shapeshifting Evil Spirit. They are said to be born from the vengeful spirits of those who were wronged in life. Coming back as a Plat-Eye, they roam the Countryside seeking the person responsible for the injustice . The Plat-Eye is seen as a large black, decomposing Canine (with glowing eyes). They are accompanied by a sulfur-like odor (as a warning). In some variations of the story, Plat-Eye's only have a single eye located on their forehead. They also are said to only haunt the Cemetery where (if they are lucky) that their body is buried. Yet other versions, have the Plat-Eye seeking their unburied corpse an will not stop their haunt until a proper funeral is done. About the size of an average large dog, Plat-Eye is also known to grow to impossible size (to scare his victims as if his appearance was NOT enough!)
