''Pearl of Anguish''

The absolutely "Evil" Device known as The ''Pearl of Anguish'' - began to appear in the mid-15th Century. Made of iron or other metal, it was a hand held - Pear shaped (hence it's name) instrument. A screw with a handle was attached to the top. The pear would be placed (by force), into the mouth of the Victim. Slowly twisted until the side flanges would open, the pressure (at some point), would begin to break teeth and the jaw (ultimately). It was soon discovered that The Pear had ''other applications''. The Pear could be placed in other "locations" of the body of men and women. When slowly opened, the obvious pain would be horrible. Ripped tissue and blood loss would result. Used to extract confessions (and to execute) - examples of The Pear have survived into the Modern Era.
