‘’Oro’’ was another Tahitian God (and well known by several other Pacific Islander Peoples) – as a Sacred Deity, invoked for protection in times of War (or Warfare). Oro’s color was ‘’Red’’ and only He or a Shaman could wear such. To violate this rule meant death.  Icons made from dyed leaves, wrapped around wooden sheaves, were venerated and carried into battle or personal conflict. Great ''care and reverence'' were put into the construction of these Icons.
