The term ''Mooncalf'' can be traced back to thr 16th Century (England). The term is associated with a malformed (possibly thru evil intent) animal – made such by the ''light of The Moon'' (normally conceived during The Full Lunar Cycle). These horrible creatures were said to be mutations of their proper Species, and very dangerous. Mooncalf's were particularly troublesome when The Moon was full – going into hibernation during other times. The Creatures often hunted Humans – to either consume them entirely or to drain their blood. The term would also be applied to Humans who – when born during The Lunar Cycle, were born ''slow of wit''. As such, many Late Medieval Doctors tried not to allow or induce labor during The Cycle.
