Of Incan origins – ‘’Mama Qucha’’ was Goddess and Protector of The Sea and all Life therein. Her Cult dated to the early 14th Century AD. Mama Qucha was highly venerated, due to the large amount of fishing that The Incans did. Often no Fisherman could set forth without making some form of prayer and sacrifice to her. In addition, She also protected Coastlines from invaders, by ‘’creating great storms and tidal waves’’.
