From The Isle of Haiti, come The Loogaroo. This legend goes back to the 14th Century (when most of the Island population were ex-African slaves). According to them, The Loogaroo was a part-wolf and vampire combination. Preferring to drink the blood of innocents, The Loogaroo would take on the pleasing form of a young and beautiful girl (if out victim was male)  or that of a handsome man (if the victim were female). Upon draining their unfortunate prey of their blood, the creature's beast state came out. The wolf form would consume the rest!. Capable of being killed by either wooden stake or blessed bullet (not necessarily silver)  a trick to stopping a Loogaroo, was to throw a small sack of rice in front of them. A Loogaroo MUST stop and count each grain. This gave the average meal a chance to escape!
