King Pellinore

An Elderly King of a “Lost Kingdom”, King Pellinore is a minor character in some regard to The Legend Cycle. He is first encountered by Arthur (who is on a Hunt). Pellinore is portrayed as very old and wandering through The Forest in rusted Armor. Pellinore sates that he is very aware of Uther Pendragon (implying that he knew him). It is unclear if Pellinore lost his Kingdom to The Pendragon Unification Wars. Pellinore claims to have been on a “Questing Beast” Hunt and got lost from him Guard and Retinue. Arthur's own Guard treat Pellinore more or less as a joke – until Arthur orders that Pellinore be treated according to his “station”. He becomes a “Sage” figure that offers advise to Arthur on occasion. Later versions of The Arthur Legend establish that Sir Percival is actually the Son of Pellinore – and becomes well established as Knight of The Round Table. Other Sources cite Pellinore (in doubting the existence of The Holy Grail), is cursed – and loses his Mind as well as his Kingdom as a result.
