AAlthough NOT specifically mentioned by ‘’name’’ in Mallory’s ‘’Le Morte’’ – other Arthurian Sagas did speak of King Gorlois. Said to have been the first Husband of Igraine – later Wife of Uther. Uther as we know was a major component of the beginning of The Arthurian Legend. Uther wanted Igraine, and went to War against Gorlois. Beating Him in combat, Gorlois relinquished Her to Uther (provided He could still keep His Kingdom).  Uther agreed, but lied – having Gorlois assassinated.
