From Feudal Japan, Kanai Anzen were a form of Amulet designed to ward of certain types of bodily illness. In addition, The Anzen were used to invoke blessings towards the health of One's entire Family. These devices were not worn, but placed on the entrance way of door of a Family Residence. They were made of purple silk, with a blessing/prayer written and placed inside. The ''bag'' was tied up with a white cord. Later variants were made to be carried in a pocket in the 18th thru 20th Centuries.
