While some claim that ''Jenny Greenteeth'' dates to The Middle Ages, ''She'' appears in various local myths around the 1870s in England. The tales are heard around Liverpool and Lancashire. ''Jenny'' is said to be a Hag (or Troll Witch) which was a common Medieval ''Beastie'' (featured in many stories). Her myth has an actual link to tragedy however. Duckweed is a common pond ''covering'' created by organic materials which break away from plants. These portions clump together until they form (on appearance), a ''solid'' surface. Often turning the color green due to organic decomposition, children would often mistake the surfaces for solid ground. Stepping on which, meant tragedy (drowning). Hence, ''Jenny'' may have been born out of a warning for children to avoid ponds.
Some tales have Jenny as an evil and dangerous creature. Green in color (often scaled), She had long and stringy hair. Her ''mouth'' contains hundred of razor sharp teeth all to devour the hapless who come too close to Her pond. Jenny however takes on a slightly different twist when Her ''myth'' came to The American Colonies. Jenny was described as above but with rotten green teeth. Ashamed, She can make herself invisible by day should ''someone'' stumble upon Her. Further, Jenny had knowledge of hidden gold and it is said if ''captured'' one can bargain with her for the location in exchange for her freedom.
