From England is the legend of The Hob. These Medieval Era creatures were part Goblin and part Fairy. Described as small and humanoid, they looked liked little old men, with beards. Hobs were considered good luck, and would often live in a Farmer's fields or a Shopkeeper's Store. They increased sales and harvests. If one did not take care of his Hob, they would do the opposite and disrupt crops and sales. They never change their clothes (which become threadbare). IF you give a Hob a new set of clothes they will leave you forever. Some communities have The Hob story as household spirits that protect property from negative spirits (or Hobgoblin!)
