Goofer Dust

Originating in Africa and transplanted into American Folk Magic (Voodoo, etc) – ''Goofer Dust'' was said to be a powdered, dust-like formula – used in the casting of Hexes (Spells). It's name origins of ''Goofer'' are unclear, but may be The English language equivalent to an African word, associated with Death. The Dust was said to have a wide variety of ingredients. The primary base formulation was Graveyard Dirt. Sometimes mixed with powdered Human Bones, Herbs and other items, once ''activated'' by a Hexer, it was thrown or blown onto a Victim. Upon contact, this ''target'' died (or would soon do such). Other uses for Goofer Dust, was (with proper incantations), was to induce Love or control over someone or something. It is not to be confused with ''Zombie Dust'', a formulation designed to ''turn'' another into a mindless Slave.
