Among The Benin People of West Africa, ''Gleti'' was The Goddess of The Moon. Wirshiped as such for Centuries among The Benin (who were known ''Night Hunters''), Gleti also was ''Mother'' to The Stars in Heaven. It is said that when a Lunar eclipse happens, it it Gleti's Husband ''Dan'' (The Sun) crossing Her ''face''. Gleti was also one of The West African Deities absorbed into both Voodoo and Santerian Religious Beliefs. To ensure a successful night hunt, offerings of food were given. If so pleased, Gleti would ''shine down'' Her ''light'' so Hunter's could have better sight in the dark Jungles.
